Dazai Osamu seems to be taken with the fable about a mysterious piper and the power of the pipes he plays as he merrily leads a pack of mice through town.

街中で耳にした異国の劇団が行う舞台演劇の内容に影響され、それぞれ気に入った御伽噺に思いを巡らせている武装探偵社の面々。太宰治は、とある笛吹きの御伽噺が気に入った様子。特に笛を奏でながら、鼠を引き連れて陽気に街を闊歩する謎多き人物とその笛の音の力に興味を示しているようだ。
